Functional Friday 7/19

Does Your PT do these 3 things?

Functional Friday week 12 with Dr. Nick and Dr. Danny

Happy Friday! Did you end up capitalizing on all the Amazon Prime Day deals? We only ended up with 40 extra pairs of headphones, 3 cordless vacuum cleaners, and 10 new kitchen sets. A huge improvement from last year.

1% Better:

Start your day with a 5-minute mindfulness exercise. Find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Breathe in deeply for four counts, hold for four, and exhale for four. This simple practice reduces stress, sharpens focus, and sets a positive tone for your day. Consistently integrating this into your morning routine can lead to significant improvements in mental clarity and overall well-being. Give it a try and feel the difference!

Curious? Here are a few traits to expect in a Physical Therapist:

Whether it's your first time going to physical therapy or you’re a seasoned vet in physical therapy, here are a few things to look for in your physical therapist. You can consider these traits as a little audit for your physical therapist.

  1. They show sympathy, empathy, and/or compassion. This is done through listening to you and validating your experiences.

  2. They provide a treatment plan that includes more than just ice/heat, electrical stimulation, dry needling, and massage. This means providing loaded and specific exercises that help push you toward your goal!

  3. They provide modifications to the activity you love or alternative activities to keep you moving. You should very rarely be told to stop all activity!
